Acupuncture is the treatment of conditions or symptoms by the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body in order to produce a response. This process is a non-invasive, comfortable, safe and efficient treatment for many conditions. These include, but are not limited to, osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, intervertebral disc disease, muscle and tendon sprains or strains and non-healing wounds.

Acupuncture communicates with the nervous system and stimulates the body to release its own natural chemicals including pain relievers, endorphins, and anti-inflammatory substances. It increases blood flow which helps to deliver oxygen and medications to the sites, as well as aid in the removal of metabolic waste. The treatments will also help relax tight muscles, thereby further reducing pain.

We have already seen extraordinary improvement in many of our patients receiving acupuncture.  We have seen these pets change from being uncomfortable and in pain, to being happier, more energetic and much more comfortable overall.

The initial appointment will consist of Dr. Stone doing a thorough examination of your pet and identifying the areas that acupuncture will prove to be most beneficial.  This session begins with treats for your pet while relaxing on a comfortable bed. This process is non-painful, and most patients completely relax or fall asleep for the remainder of the visit!

Dr. Stone will recommend follow-up sessions based on each pet’s individual needs.  Acupuncture is often accompanied with laser therapy treatments depending on the condition(s) being treated.

To determine if your pet’s condition(s) may be responsive to acupuncture therapy, please set up an exam with Dr. Karen Stone.
